Summary: What a marvelous viewing experience!
Comment: Even at it's current price it is an amazing television. The Samsung 650A should be on anybody's short list. When the price comes down I may have to buy another one within a year or two.
Be sure to check the video settings of your set before you settle down to watch your favorite movie. I've found that the Dynamic setting without any of the "cool" color settings works best for my taste. Rich blacks and vivid colors along with brilliant whites... very nice. And you may need to turn on the fastest setting for the refresh rate of the images.
It's also a good idea to get a couple of soft fabric gloves ready when you are unpacking this gem of a TV. The surface of this thing will pick up the oils from your skin on contact and having a micro-fiber cloth or two around (with a touch of water) is all you'll need to keep it clean.

Comment: Was a little apprehensive about purchasing a large ticket electronic online. I was pleasently surprised! No problems with shipping. The shipping company made extra arrangements to accomodate my schedule. Received it in less time than what was estimated! TV works great. No problems getting it set up and functioning. The red touch of color is not overbarring, it is barly noticable. You really have to look at the tv in light to see the red. Very pleased with purchase.

Summary: Still evolving technology
Comment: Best picture quality within $1000, but this set represents a technology that is still evolving.
One very annoying glitch is that it cannot display Closed Captions from a DVD player. So if you happen to get some DVD's from the mid to late 90's, and even some more recent ones, you might not have a subtitle option but you do have Closed Captions. For all we pay for this unit, it can't display the CC except directly from the Antenna In source. Many British DVD's have CC but no subtitles. Good luck with the accents.
The sound on the A650 is lousy (but the A750 is fine). No real way to enjoy this without buying at least an amp and speaker system too. If you are washing the dishes while trying to catch the news, forget it--not loud enough.
Be careful if you bump or flex the screen--the LCD array is very easy to damage permanently. And NEVER, NEVER clean with paper towels. Why is the screen material so soft, so easily scratched? Give me a break.
And the hype about 178 degree viewing really stretches the truth. Better than older LCD's by far, but you still get that sweet spot by sitting directly in front of it.
Oh, yeah--Do not try to play the TV speakers and external speakers at the same time unless you want a major echo effect. You must choose one or the other.
Be prepared to study a 110 page manual to understand how to use it. Ugh.
For this people are ditching sets that are still good? Imagine how much better the technology will be in two more years. Take a deep breath, exhale, inhale, exhale...Feel better?

Only downfall is the sound, could be much better for the price...
